The Volkswagen Club of Tulsa (V.C.T.) originated in early 1995 as a non-profit organization established for anyone with an interest in Volkswagens. Meetings are held monthly on the second Saturday of the month. Most often, after the business portion of the meeting, there is discussion of upcoming events and activities that members may be interested in attending or supporting. Also, there is usually a "Tech Talk" segment, where questions and "problems" are discussed. Members and guests are encouraged to take part and share any "solutions" or suggestions they may have. There is no requirement for membership, except a desire to join others who have an interest in Volkswagens and paying the yearly dues of $20.00.

Club membership and dues entitle members to a wonderful monthly newsletter, The Volks Folks News. The newsletter provides information on upcoming events, as well as helpful and interesting items about Volkswagens, including items for sale. We have members from the entire Green Country area: members who live in Texas, Virginia, Kansas and Arkansas, and one who lives in Japan.

In the past, V.C.T. has sponsored numerous activities. Some have been caravans to Will Rogers' birthplace in Claremore, to Tahlequah for a float trip, Pea Ridge National Battlefield in Arkansas, our annual Fall Foliage cruise and to Enid, Oklahoma City, and Eureka Springs for car shows. There have been car clinics, picnics, midnight car cruises, and participation in The New Car Show at the Quiktrip Center. The club participates in the Boo-Ha-Ha Parade in Brookside, helps with canned food and money collection for Meals on Wheels, toy collecting for Toys for Tots, and has a Christmas Party and gift exchange. The V.C.T. has also made significant monetary contributions directly to Meals on Wheels, MADD and the Shriners transportation fund. The club has held 14 annual club car shows. The most recent, in September 2009, was attended by over 1000 people and had over 120 entries.

Presently, there are approximately 103 member units. Some of these are individuals, but many are families with children, as well as couples. Our members have all types of Volkswagens, from 1950's air-cooled models to the present day water-cooled types. Some members do not own a VW - yet - but are "looking" and are interested in sharing their ideas and experiences. Some of the VW s are "show" type cars, but most of the vehicles are daily drivers that provide reliable and economical transportation. We encourage our members and visitors to support our other members who have business interests in Volkswagens.

The members are, currently, planning activities for the rest of the year. These include the following: Our fall foliage tour and the Boo-Ha-Ha parade in October. We also have cruises to dinner after the meetings during spring and summer. Our annual car show will be held September 18, 2010 at the Oklahoma Technical College, 4444 S. Sheridan Rd. All members are encouraged to attend the meetings and take part in all activities. The club is only as good as the members make it, and the reward of belonging to V.C.T is in taking part in as many activities as interest you. If you are interested in Volkswagens, we would be happy to have you join us.
